The best time of year to visit Dahab

28 September 2026 · by Ahmed Shark

Dahab is a year-round place, but each season feels different. Here is what to expect.

Spring (March to May)

For many people the best time. Warm days, fresh evenings, and the sea is warming up. It is perfect weather for combining the reef with desert and mountain trips.

Summer (June to September)

Hot, often above 35°C in the afternoon, but the sea is at its best: warm and clear. Do the desert early in the morning or at sunset, and spend the middle of the day in the water. Mount Sinai at night is lovely in summer.

Autumn (October and November)

Our favourite. The sea is still warm from summer, the heat has softened, and the light in the canyons turns golden.

Winter (December to February)

Sunny days around 20–24°C, but cold nights, especially in the mountains. The sea is cooler (around 21–22°C), so bring or rent a wetsuit. It's a quiet, calm time with fewer people.

What about the wind?

Dahab is famous for wind; that's why kitesurfers love the lagoon. Most days, snorkelling and diving on the sheltered reefs are fine. If the wind is too strong for a trip, we'll move it to a calmer day.

Our advice

  • For sea plus desert: March–May or October–November.
  • For the warmest water: July–October.
  • For quiet and low prices: December–February.
