Snorkelling in Dahab: five spots to know

19 October 2026 · by Ahmed Shark

Dahab might be the easiest place in the world to go snorkelling. The reef starts a few steps from the shore, the water is clear, and there's something to see everywhere. Here are five favourites.

1. The Lighthouse

Right in town. Easy entry, shallow reef and lots of fish. A great first snorkel or a sunset swim. Lighthouse trip

2. Eel Garden

North of town, a sandy slope full of garden eels poking out of the sand and swaying in the current. Magical, and very calm. Eel Garden trip

3. The Islands

South of town, a maze of coral towers and channels. It feels like snorkelling through a city of coral. The Islands trip

4. Three Pools

Shallow natural pools at the edge of the reef, south of Dahab. Perfect for beginners and children. Three Pools trip

5. The Blue Hole rim

Snorkel along the edge of the famous sinkhole, with deep blue on one side and coral on the other. Blue Hole trip

Snorkel kindly

  • Don't touch or stand on the coral.
  • Use reef-safe sunscreen or wear a rash guard.
  • Never feed the fish.
